Wikileaks founder cites role in rendition of Libyan man and seizure of Dotcom’s assetsHong Kong’s alleged role in the secret 2004 rendition of a Libyan man and his family greatly damaged the city’s reputation, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange says.迷你倉出租The seizure of assets belonging to former Hong Kong resident Kim Dotcom in 2012 had also hurt the city’s standing as a safe place to do business, said the freedom-of-information activist, speaking by phone last week from the Ecuadorean embassy in London, where he has been holed up for more than a year to avoid extradition to Sweden on sex charges.“There’s no doubt that the Libyan dissident case has damaged Hong Kong’s reputation,” Assange said, referring to Sami al-Saadi, who was considered by the West to have ties to al-Qaeda.“Similarly, the combined raid on Kim Dotcom’s assets by Hong Kong authorities and the FBI has damaged the city’s reputation.”In March 2004, Saadi – along with his wife and four young children – was forced onto a flight out of Chek Lap Kok to Tripoli, where he endured years of torture by henchmen of the then Libyan dictator, Muammar Gaddafi.CIA documents detail the Hong Kong government’s complicity with British and US spies in ensuring the rendition was carried out quickly and quietly. As a signatory to the 1984 UN Convention Against Torture, Hong Kong is obligated not to send people back to a state where they c迷你倉uld be tortured.“Grave violations of human rights are always a surprise even if you understand the interlinkages between different governments,” Assange said.“Hong Kong needs to keep its reputation for following the rule of law and for being impartial.”In the case of Dotcom, the internet entrepreneur who is fighting extradition from New Zealand to the US on mass copyright charges, Assange said Hong Kong’s “strong links to the FBI” were risky.“There is a global phenomenon in security agencies making alliances with each other … and that’s an unhealthy one,” he said.In January last year, about 100 customs officers raided Dotcom’s penthouse suite at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Wan Chai, seizing digital evidence and millions in assets. Three other locations linked to the now-defunct Megaupload, a file-sharing website , were also raided.Assange, who described Hong Kong as a “vibrant city”, also weighed in on the debate over universal suffrage by 2017.“That would be nice but unlikely,” Assange said. “We must be careful that when we give people the vote we are actually giving them a meaningful vote and it’s not just a marketing stunt by the people who already have power.”Property ownership was at the core of political and financial power, he said. “If there’s no ability to change who owns what, then the electoral system doesn’t have much power and therefore democracy is largely illusory.”儲存倉

Source: Greeley Tribune, Colo.迷你倉Sept. 07--Greeley Central's football team had an all-around great Friday night at District 6 Stadium. The Wildcats got their first win of the season, won their home opener and won their Homecoming game with a big 62-0 nonconference win against Adams City. It's an early Homecoming, coach Mike Heatherly said, but it was the best timing for Central's schedule since the Wildcats have only four home games this season."Anytime you can win in front of the home crowd and put some points up like we did and play defense like we did, that's exciting -- exciting for our kids and our program," Heatherly said. "So (it's a) step in the right direction, a lot of work to be done but we're happy where we're at right now tonight."We're gonna go to work (today) ... but it was a great victory for our crowd and our school. We've taken a few lumps the past couple years so it was good to play well in front of the home crowd, that was nice."Greeley Central (1-1) scored just six points against Green Mountain last week, but the Wildcats ran up the score, literally, on Friday, scoring eight of its nine touchdowns on rushing plays.Senior running back Travis Lechman led the way with 103 yards on 11 carries for two touchdowns in the first quarter. Senior back Brandon Gallegos followed closely with 100 rushing yards on 10 carries and also scored two TDs."I was just happy the team was doing really well and we all executed," Lechman said. "I'm just really happy everyone was doing good, (did) their job and did great. ... Everyone was ready to come in for this game and everyone was all excited."Junior quarterback Zach Koch looked ready, finishing 3 of 3 with 53 yards and ran in two touchdowns himself, each from the 1-yard line. He shared time with senior quarterback, Brady Guyette, who was 2 of 4 with 32 yards.Koch said it felt great to get a big win and just give Central's running backs the ball as much as he could."We have a lot of running backs and we try to get our playmakers the ball as best we can," he said, "and that was our running backs tonight. We felt like we could exploit their defense, running up the middle and pounding it down on third (down)."The Wildcats had six third- or fourth-down conversions against Adams City and rushed at least 10 times in each of the first three quarters."We thought we could run the ball, we knew that coming in," Heatherly said. "We just thought we would find out; we had a couple ideas, couple schemes in mind that we thought might work well and they did."We were able to run the ball inside and force them to pack it inside a little bit and then had some timely passes and sweep plays where we could get to the perimeter," he added. "Things just worked out well, just kinda what we thought."Senior wide receiver James Desmond contributed with a three-yard TD run in the second quarter and sophomore back Kody Drake sco儲存倉ed a two-yarder in the fourth. On defense, sophomore defensive back Riley Ortegon returned a 24-yard interception for a touchdown with about four minutes left in the game.Adams City couldn't get anything to go its way, finishing 4 of 12 with 13 passing yards and had 19 carries for just 27 yards. The Eagles' two quarterbacks combined for three interceptions and the offense lost two fumbles."Our goal was to stop their running back, that kid was pretty good," Heatherly said. "We thought we did a pretty good job on him and forced them to throw the ball and we didn't feel like they could beat us throwing."The Wildcats weren't perfect, though; they had five penalties costing them 50 yards. But other than that, Heatherly said Central kept its mistakes to a minimum."We're big about focusing and finishing," he said. "We had a few penalties that we weren't happy about and just some lackadaisical things. That's just always something; you always coach for the next game. You might get away with something tonight that will just kill ya the next week, so you're always looking for those things. But we kept our mistakes to a minimum."Heatherly said the players and coaches will be able to enjoy the win, but not for too long."As coaches, you very rarely get to do that," he said. "It's Homecoming; we'll look at film in the morning and that'll be part of what we do, but they'll (the players) have their Homecoming dance (today) and enjoy that and then Monday, back to work."ACHS 0 0 0 0 -- 0GCHS 21 21 6 14 -- 62First quarterGCHS -- Brandon Gallegos 6 run (Juan Delacruz kick), 9:05. Source: Albuquerque Journal, N.迷你倉M.Sept. 07--The Silver Saddle Motel is suing the city of Santa Fe and the New Mexico Department of Transportation for damages from drainage problems the motel says were caused by a construction project on bordering Cerrillos Road.In July, a thunderstorm resulted in water draining from Cerrillos Road onto the Silver Saddle property "in epic proportions" according to the suit."If it were not for the quick response and effort of the owners (and sadly, hotel guests visiting the City of Santa Fe) the Silver Saddle would have been flooded," the suit says. The lawsuit says the issues have decreased the value of the Silver Saddle by $2.5 million."The City of Santa Fe and the State of New Mexico had a duty to maintain Cerrillos Road in such a way to remediate known, dangerous, and damaging conditions, namely the channeling of storm water onto the Premises," the suit says.A city spokesperson said city officials could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon, a local holiday. The stretch of Cerrillos between Cielo Court and Camino Carlos Rey, where Silver Saddle is located, was dug up in 2011 as part of a long-term plan to fix up Santa Fe's busiest thoroughfare. The Silver Saddle lawsuit charges that in 2011 it became apparent that more stormwater than usual was being directed from Cerrillos Road onto the Silver Saddle's property because of "what appeared to be temporary rerouting of drainage caused by the project." The motel property was subjected to flooding, erosion and other damage, the suit says. The Silver Saddle delivered a tort claim notice that year to the city and project contractor AUI, Inc. -- also named as a defendant in the lawsuit -- and in response was provided 儲存ith sandbags, equipment and help building temporary dirt mounds to prevent further problems while the construction was taking place, according to the suit. The aid stopped once the project wrapped up, however, and no efforts have been taken to permanently fix the problem, the suit says.Other nearby properties along Cerrillos have benefited from higher curbs and retaining walls that were built as part of the project, "but for whatever reason, Silver Saddle has been left entirely exposed," the suit adds. The Silver Saddle lawsuit also maintains that:During storms a river forms in the right northbound lane of Cerrillos near the motel, directing surges of stormwater onto the Silver Saddle's property. Also, cars driving through the puddle push water onto roofs, walls, cars and people in the vicinity of the motel. Two small stormwater drains located on the southeast side of Cerrillos from St. Mike's Road to the Silver Saddle have provided "woefully inadequate drainage of stormwater in the northbound lanes closest to the Premises."The impermeable surface of Cerrillos' northbound lane redirects a significant amount of stormwater onto the Silver Saddle property. The construction project caused erosion of the Silver Saddle's gravel parking lot. Also, red clay and sand from the project's landscaping has piled up on the motel's property. The lawsuit says the city and state have ignored Silver Saddle's most recent complaints and concerns. The construction also caused serious disruption to the Silver Saddle's business, the suit says.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 the Albuquerque Journal (Albuquerque, N.M.) Source: Appeal-Democrat, Marysville, Calif.新蒲崗迷你倉Sept. 07--Editors note: The Appeal-Democrat is running a series of stories looking at the local effects of the Affordable Care Act leading up to Oct. 1, when open enrollment begins. Today's story takes a look at how local counties are preparing. All of California -- including Yuba and Sutter counties -- are being watched from afar on how smoothly the transition to the landmark Affordable Care Act goes."They (federal government) are counting on California to succeed because they have been getting so much pushback," said Suzanne Nobles, Yuba County director of Health and Human Services.Even if it doesn't go as smoothly as officials hope, in Yuba and Sutter counties it has at least provided new jobs -- 28 in Sutter County and 21 in Yuba County. "This will be a huge change in culture for our department," Nobles told the Board of Supervisors last spring.Since then both counties have hired new employees, set up new call centers and embarked on public campaigns informing what the Affordable Care Act means. Now, it's just a matter of final preparations, training and counting the days to when open enrollment begins.During open enrollment, county and state workers will be taking calls from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays.Residents who aren't covered by health insurance will be required to enroll in an Affordable Care Act insurance plan during the open enrollment period from Oct. 1 to March. If they don't qualify for Medi-Cal, they will be enrolled in one of the four Affordable Care Act coverage levels -- ranging from the Platinum Plan that provides 90 percent coverage to the Bronze Plan that provides 60 percent coverage.Once open enrollment begins, those enrolling or with questions on whether they qualify can contact the statewide Covered California phone number before being referred to appropriate county call centers. But residents can also call Yuba or Sutter counties' health and human services departments or visit the departments in person, officials said."We would like to make the public feel very comfortable in contacting us," Nobles said.Yuba County town hallsYuba County's Health and Human Services Department is hosting three town hall meetings in which a panel of experts will be outlining the Affordable Care Act and its options.Monday: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Yuba County Government Center, Board of Supervisors chambers, 915 Eighth St., Marysville.Tuesday: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Alcouffe Center, 9185 Marysville Road, Oregon House.Thursday: 10 a.m.-noon, Yuba County Government Center, Board of Supervisors chambers, 915 Eighth St., Marysville.------Yuba County looking to help ease the processLess than a month away from Affordable Care Act open enrollment, Yuba County officials are most interested it making the process as simple as possible."We are trying to make it easy so people don't have to battle the system," said Russ Brown, communications and legislative affairs coordinator for the county. "Our goal is to make it as simple as possible."To that end, new employees hired to staff the county's Covered California call center have been going through training exercises in which various call scenarios are played out.The motto for Yuba County health and human services is "no wrong numbers or no closed doors," meaning potential Affordable Care Act clients will always be directed to getting help."This is not the welfare department anymore," said Suzanne Noblesmini storage director of Yuba County Health and Human Services. "We are a service organization."In preparing for open enrollment, Yuba County spent about $125,000 to remodel space in the Health and Human Services Department to accommodate two new call centers. One is for Covered California referrals from the statewide exchange and the other is for ongoing clients.Nobles said the county will receive about $3.1 million -- 90 percent from the federal government and 10 percent from the state -- to run the Affordable Care Act during the first three years. No county general fund dollars are being spent, officials said. The county hired 19 new eligibility technicians, two workforce coordinators and two supervisors to handle the expected increase in calls generated by health care reform. To help get the word out, Yuba County is hosting three town hall meetings next week -- two in Marysville and one in the foothills -- featuring a panel of experts. The forums are designed to provide information to potential clients. In addition, the county has established an email address -- FocusedOnYou@co.yuba.ca.us -- through which residents can ask questions about enrollment.Brown also noted that the statewide Covered California exchange is now operating with technicians answering questions.------Sutter County setting up service center in preparationSutter County officials are preparing for the Affordable Care Act by setting up a customer service center at 190 Garden Highway in Yuba City, where residents can consider their coverage options in person or by telephone.Tom Sherry, director of human services for Sutter County, said the county will do its best to help residents during the legislation's implementation."If someone shows up at our door and asks about Covered California," he said, "we'll do our best to help them."County officials agreed to hire 28 public assistance specialists to helm the service center for about $2.8 million in state and federal funds. The total amount allocated to the county for all expenses related specifically to the Affordable Care Act and Medi-Cal program -- technology, office supplies, etc. -- is about $8 million.Additionally, Sutter County will use another 70 employees or so under the CalFresh and CalWORKs programs to assist in the local implementation of the Affordable Care Act.The extra employees will be needed if the county's prediction of 15,000 calls per month is correct. Each call is expected to last an average of one hour. The state is also requiring employees to respond to referrals from Covered California, the statewide exchange, within 30 seconds, 80 percent of the time.Because of the surge in customers, the county is switching from a case-by-case business model to a task-base model, meaning the employees will have specific functions and work in somewhat of an assembly line.Sherry said carrying out the Affordable Care Act has been a challenge for the state, as it hustles to set everything up in a short amount of time."For us (the county), it's trying to implement what they're telling us and sometimes we don't have all the information," he said. "Sometimes we are just waiting."InformationFor questions prior to the start of open enrollment on Oct. 1, call Covered California at 1-888-975-1142 or visit the website CoveredCA.com.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 the Appeal-Democrat (Marysville, Calif.) Source: Detroit Free PressSept.新蒲崗迷你倉 07--Nope. Nuh-uh. Never noticed a thing. That was the general response of Lions coaches Friday when they were asked about retired Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher recently saying that Bears defensive players faked injuries to slow down offenses."We've never done that since I've been in Detroit," coach Jim Schwartz said Friday. "I can't speak for other teams. I don't know that I've ever really thought anybody did it against us."Defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham, who has coached for more than 30 years in the NFL, said he has seen teams use the tactic."Oh, yeah," he said. "But that was quite a few years ago. I haven't seen it lately, and people get it. And I think the rules, the way they are enforced now, it's pretty hard to do that stuff."According to the Chicago Tribune, the NFL sent a memo to every team reminding them of possible discipline, including an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, if they're caught faking injuries. But it's nearly impossible to prove a player is faking an injury. And players and coaches know it."I guess it's part of the game," receiver Nate Burleson said. "I mean, any way that you can try to gain an advantage. ..."You know, they say if you're not cheatin' you're not tryin'. So sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do to slow down certain teams. ... There's so many rules that if you find a loophole, you've kinda gotta expose it, especially in this league."-- BACK IN THE BOOTH: Cunningham ran the defense from the coaches' booth in the press box during the exhibition season, and he'll stay there for the rest of the season."I kind of like it," mini storagee said. "I've been up there a lot in my career, and I get to see the game. I get to see everybody play, not just defense."Cunningham coached from the booth his first year with the Lions in 2009. His proxy on the field will be linebackers coach Matt Burke.-- BADGE OF HONOR: Veteran receiver Burleson is accorded one of the highest honors by his teammates each week when he breaks down the final huddle in the end zone shortly before kickoff.Burleson was not voted one of the team's six captains this week, but he knows he has a very strong leadership role."If this is the police force, I have an honorary badge," he said. "Something like 'Police Academy.'"I do appreciate the fact that guys listen to me. And I know that guys are watching me, especially in group.
